Can I do small electrical jobs in my house myself?

Definitely NO! It is illegal for anyone but a qualified electrician to do any Residential wiring or house rewiring. You have no Certificate of Compliance which is bad news especially if you need to sell the property, or make an insurance claim. Did you know that one of the biggest causes of house fires is from electrical faults? It makes sense for safety to hire a qualified electrician to carry out all your household wiring. You also risk your personal safety and the safety of your family and friends.

Why does my home’s safety switch keep tripping?

It could be a faulty appliance. To find the culprit, unplug all your electrical appliances (particularly the fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer) and reset the circuit. Then plug the appliances back in and switch them on one at a time until you can identify the problem. If you can’t reset the circuit, call us on 0434 538 616 for advice.

What is a Certificate of Compliance and why do I need one?

Electricians must issue a Certificate of Compliance to the consumer after completing any electrical work ready for the power to be connected to it. Certificates of Compliance are legal documents required under the Electricity Act 1996.

The purpose of the certificates is to:

  • Enable self-certification of electrical work.
  • Assure the customer that the work is installed and tested to the appropriate Australian Standard.
  • Protect the electrician by confining the responsibilities to the work they have carried out.
