Frequent Questions

Our qualified and experienced Accredited Gold Master Electricians are happy to share their knowledge with you. Read on below to find the answers to some commonly asked questions, and if you would like to know more about any electrical service, please call us on 0434 538 616.

Can I do small electrical jobs in my house myself?

Definitely NO! It is illegal for anyone but a qualified electrician to do any Domestic wiring or house rewiring. You have no Certificate of Compliance which is bad news especially if you need to sell the property, or make an insurance claim. Did you know that one of the biggest causes of house fires is from electrical faults? It makes sense for safety to hire a qualified electrician to carry out all your household wiring. You also risk your personal safety and the safety of your family and friends.

How much money do I save changing my lights to LED? Is it worth it?

Each year, more and more people are saving energy and money by switching to energy saving LED's. The low quarterly electrical bills eventually pay for the greater investment of LED lighting installation, and increased benefits to actual energy savings. Click here to calculate the potential savings in your home from a LED lighting upgrade.

How much will my job cost? Do you do free quotes?

Why does my home’s safety switch keep tripping?

It could be a faulty appliance. To find the culprit, unplug all your electrical appliances (particularly the fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer) and reset the circuit. Then plug the appliances back in and switch them on one at a time until you can identify the problem. If you can’t reset the circuit, call us on 0434 538 616 for advice.

What is a Certificate of Compliance and why do I need one?

Electricians must issue a Certificate of Compliance to the consumer after completing any electrical work ready for the power to be connected to it. Certificates of Compliance are legal documents required under the Electricity Act 1996.

The purpose of the certificates is to:

  • Enable self-certification of electrical work.
  • Assure the customer that the work is installed and tested to the appropriate Australian Standard.
  • Protect the electrician by confining the responsibilities to the work they have carried out.
